Traditional* micro-cleanups led to collection boxes in public spaces. By 2026, over 800 pounds of vapes were recycled correctly.
Thousands of people (non-vapers) who saw the boxes, and thousands of vapers, now consider proper disposal normal. Some even quit. The businesses hosting the boxes are also key.
This was accomplished quite slowly, without* using the Internet.
